The Population Health, Innovation, and Informatics Unit within the Garrett County Health Department received another funding award!!!! For this special project, we are working closely with Willie Lantz and Melissa Bolyard as representatives of the Western Maryland Food Council, Garrett Growers, the University of Maryland Extension, and County Government.

We believe access to affordable healthy, nutritious food will help families live a healthier lifestyle.

Right now, our local farms have fresh food available and we have transportation to get it to you! So for our friends in Kitzmiller(starting June 29) and Friendsville(starting July 11), we’re coming down both sides of the mountain to offer you our very best! Special thanks to the library system for allowing us to set up in the parking lot to make it very convenient for community members to stop by.

For those that have the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, known as the Food Supplement Program, or FSP, in Maryland), you will get double the amount of food for the same cost at the Markets. To learn more about how to sign-up for SNAP click here: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, known as the Food Supplement Program, or FSP, in Maryland) or call our local DHS office at 301-533-3000.
