Congratulations to the Go Garrett County Team on completing the Appalachian Trail Virtual Challenge! This was Go Garrett County’s first virtual challenge to help people CRUSH their fitness goals.

Walking, cycling, or running (any distance-based exercise) got our team the 1,968 miles it took to complete the Appalachian Trail! The first 25 people who responded received the Challenge entry fee, a t-shirt, and a really cool medal!

Participants could choose to join our virtual team or complete the challenge solo. We are so proud of the participants for completing this virtual challenge. Our team members kept connected and encouraged through the app. Now that this one is complete, keep going and be watching for the next way we challenge and encourage one another to become and stay physically active.

We know that consistent exercise, like walking every day is not only good for your physical health, but it also has a positive effect on your mental health. That’s because the activity releases feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine that help stave off anxiety. So be kind to yourself today and go for a walk during this beautiful autumn day.
