Witnessing the northern lights is one of my bucket-list experiences that I’m sure would be transformational! The conditions need to be perfect for this spectacular display to take place. December through March is usually the best time to observe this elusive natural phenomenon close to the arctic circle.

It’s doubtful that I’ll be experiencing aurora viewing this December, just about as unlikely as the crew from Garrett County stepping into Alaska. But that’s precisely what we’ve accomplished in just seven weeks! We’ve collectively recorded over 10 Million steps, leaving the Town Parking Lot in Oakland, heading west across the Great Plains, through the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean, and then north to Alaska!

As we celebrate our accomplishment in this movement journey, I’m raising my glass and toasting to HOPE! Let’s do what we can every day to care for our bodies and minds! Remember to reduce our footprint as we help preserve our environment. Always being mindful that the small things we do today make a difference to not only ourselves but our neighbors who live Ten Billion steps away!

It’s the last day to turn in your step logs for this week; visit https://gcinmotion.garrettcountyapps.com/ to submit your steps!
