It’s a big week for Pickleball, with opportunities for all ages! Autumn is upon us, ushering in cooler temperatures and inviting us to enjoy the outdoors. Many of you have said yes to our consistent invitations to play over the years, and we’re so glad! Chris and Deb of the Deep Creek Pickleballers are faithful to the game and welcome beginners. We’re still playing on the courts at Grantsville on Wednesday and Friday mornings starting at 9:00 a.m.

We’re restocking the prize shop on GoGarrettCounty.com, and you can earn 20 prize points just by participating in Pickleball each time you play with this group in Grantsville. Make sure you have registered for a free account on GoGarrettCounty.com, and if you have questions about your account or points, reach out to me at [email protected].

These events are part of a larger initiative to improve access to physical activity and support community connectedness. The program portfolio designed by the Population Health, Innovation, and Informatics Unit at the Garrett County Health Department in 2022 has served thousands of Garrett County residents at free events, empowering community members to connect and participate in activities at no cost.

Another unit within the Garrett County Health Department is joining in the fun. We’re happy to expand these opportunities to all ages at an introductory clinic to teach kids aged 10-18 this fun and engaging sport. Instructors will teach the fundamentals of the game, including basic techniques, rules, and strategies, this Saturday, September 7th, from 10-12 a.m. Learn more about this clinic at https://garretthealth.org/free-pickleball-clinic-promotes-healthy-choices-for-garrett-county-youth/ from the Health Education & Outreach unit.
