UPMC Western Maryland is inviting a wide group of community partners and stakeholders- from local primary care doctors and community health workers to churches and charity organizations—to collaborate and strategize on how to support community partners like us in our work to connect residents across Garrett and Allegany Counties to the National Diabetes Prevention Program and Diabetes Self-Management Training, while also helping residents of these counties with the other factors that impact their ability to prevent and treat diabetes. On Go! Garrett County we’ve talked a lot about ways to improve health and sometimes a class is exactly what’s in order to begin a new lifestyle. Hop on and see what UPMC has to offer and share with them what types of information, preferred format, and best times for you to attend a class, remember virtual may be an option. Garrett and Allegany Counties are among the top ten counties in Maryland with the highest death rate from diabetes so it’s vital that we all keep working together to reduce the incidence of diabetes and better the health outcomes of individuals with diabetes in our region!
If you’re interested in participating tomorrow October 15th it’s from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the link to join is below. I’ll see you there!

Good option for diabetes info.
I agree!
You guys are doing a great job getting word out!!!!
Come check out TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). The group meets at the Garrett County Health Department on Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 pm. It’s more than a weight loss support group. You can have your blood pressure checked once a month or weekly. Particpants who have blood work completed are encouraged to bring their results in to be reviewed by a Registered Dietitian and suggestions are made on what lifestyle changes to make to improve their numbers. Call me at 301-334-7730 if you would like more information.
Glad to hear this information is available to our community.
Diabetes management is so important, and being aware when you are pre-diabetic is also important. Changes in lifestyle can make a big difference.
Thanks for the info
That’s awesome, thank you for the info.
Yes!!! Speaking one of my love languages here! I LOVE helping people prevent, stop, and sometimes even reverse diabetes. Together, WE CAN DO THIS!
