It’s already Walktober again, and the leaves around Garrett County are getting ready to put on a fantastic display for Autumn Glory!

This year, we’re kicking off Walktober with the Fitbit challenge, which will run through the end of the 2022 year, and bringing back some of your favorites from local trails, community walks, and tips and tricks to keep our physical activity momentum going as the we prepare for a whirlwind of seasonal weather changes!

This week, Shelley and I will be sharing more details on the Fitbit challenge as we continue to onboard community members. We’ve had OVERWHELMING feedback and interest in this challenge, so we are regearing to make it accessible for even more people in Garrett County! This week, we’ll be sharing tips and tricks to get you started as we leave the onboarding process open until 10/10. Come back tomorrow for our first article in this series on setting up challenges for your team!

Here’s more info on how to get registered for the Fitbit/Fall Activity Challenge! : https://gogarrettcounty.com/the-fitbit-challenge-is-finally-here/

Here’s a few updates on the challenge:

  • As a reminder, you do NOT need a Fitbit to participate – any activity tracker will work! (Just make sure your team is all using the same tech!)
  • You can form a team or (NEW!) you can participate as an individual!
  • Anyone participating in the challenge will be eligible to redeem the EXCLUSIVE prizes in the prize shop: Sheetz Gift Cards, CARC Gift Cards, etc… (You must register for the challenge to order these from the Prize Shop and participate in the challenge to be eligible to purchase these with Prize Points.)
  • The top performing team (total steps, divided by number of members) will receive 100 Prize Points each, each week.
  • There will be TONS of random drawings throughout the challenge, so that everyone has a chance to win all kinds of goodies, regardless of their activity level.

If you have any questions, drop them in the comments below! Also, if you are looking for a team, you can connect with others in the comments too! We can’t wait to embark on this new journey with all of our new friends!

P.s. Don’t forget to rack up those Prize Points by commenting below! During Walktober, we’ve enabled a special multiplier for active members! You’ll earn 7 Prize Points per comment if you’re an active member!
